Next week the Como Zoo is opening the Blooming Butterflies exhibit. It's a huge screened in structure that looks like a Caterpillar and is exploding with beautiful, colorful butterflies. . Its the perfect place for me to practice my macro photography, and work on different techniques. I think last summer I went almost every weekend! As you can guess, I'm highly anticipating the opening of the the Butterfly Garden next weekend. Here are some shots I took last summer:

Summer Flower Show
Yesterday I spent the afternoon on the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory in St. Paul. In the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory they have multiple gardens including a Fern Garden, a Japanese Garden, an Herb Garden, and my favorite, the Sunken Garden. The Sunken Garden is always blooming with gorgeous colors and beautifully primped flowers. They are currently running their Summer Flower Show, filled with roses, begonias, gerbera daisies, oriental lilies and so much more. It's a photographer's dream. Here's a small sample of what I shot:

Off to the Races!
On Sunday, we spent the afternoon at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, MN, betting on the horses. It was a fun-filled sunny day with friends, family & some betting!
